Announcing Andrea Ornelas as re:power’s New Program Manager, Movement Building

We’re so excited to welcome Andy Ornelas (she/her/ella) as re:power’s new Program Manager, Movement Building! If her name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s been a key part of our Movement Building program for years as a contractor—now, she’s officially joining us full-time!

A proud daughter of migrant Mexican parents, Andy has dedicated her career to activism and community organizing in Latinx and BIPOC communities. She earned degrees from UMass Boston and Northeastern University, studied abroad in Italy, and was recognized as one of El Mundo’s 30 Under 30 Most Influential Young Latino Leaders.

Now based in Atlanta, she has trained over 2,000 changemakers, mentored through the Latin American Association, and worked with organizations like The Sunrise Movement and Harvard Kennedy School. She’s also a former Harvard Graduate Teacher Fellow and past President of the Atlanta Toastmasters Chapter.

At re:power, she’s been leading the Grassroots Organizing School, Strategy Academy, and Storytelling Academy, helping organizers build power and tell their stories.

We’re thrilled to have Andy on board!

Welcoming Our Newest Team Members!

re:power is thrilled to welcome four dynamic new team members, each bringing a unique blend of experience and passion for advancing our impact.

We are particularly excited to bring a new role to our team: Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives (Rebecca Thompson)!  This role will provide strategic leadership, executive project management, and develop new regional, multi-state, multi-organizational strategic and complex initiatives while also focusing on operationalization of re:power’s strategic plan and exploring opportunities for re:power by building relationships with individuals and institutions across our ecosystem.

Rebecca, Anna, Robert, and India round out our 2025 hiring plan with their brilliance and commitment to re:power’s mission and north star! Each of them fill a critical need within our organization and bring capacity that has been missing after staff transitions.

Rebecca Thompson is an award-winning Democratic political consultant and Clarity Coach who has dedicated her career to training Black womxn to run for office and lead electoral campaigns. With over 20 years of experience, Rebecca has worked with national progressive organizations, labor unions, and non-profits, focusing on leadership development and campaign strategy. A former State Representative candidate, she now resides in Baltimore and recently earned her Master’s in Medical Cannabis Science & Therapeutics from the University of Maryland.

Anna Gagliuffi is a communications strategist, designer, and coach dedicated to advancing collective liberation. As the founder of Artesanna, she has helped social justice organizations elevate their impact through creative strategy and design. Her previous roles include Director of Community Engagement at People Power and Visual Communications Director at the Latino Community Foundation, where she played a key role in raising millions for the organization and reaching millions through national campaigns. Anna holds a Fulbright Scholarship and a degree in Advertising and Graphic Design from Chapman University.

Robert Muñoz (he/him)

Robert Muñoz, based in Brooklyn, NY, brings over a decade of experience in political organizing and campaign strategy. Raised in La Puente, CA, a low-income Mexican-American community, Robert was inspired to make a difference from a young age. He began his career with the Working Families Party in 2010, eventually serving as New York Field Director and leading major electoral campaigns across the country. With expertise in election targeting, data analytics, and event management, Robert is passionate about advancing progressive governance.

India Waller
India Waller

India Waller joins re:power with over 11 years of experience in executive and administrative support across various industries, including education, healthcare, politics, and digital marketing. She has provided executive support to high-level leaders, most recently at DSPolitical and Rising Tide Interactive. India holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor of Arts from Salisbury University.

Deana Ayers (They/He)

Deana Ayers
Deana Ayers

Deana is an administrative professional and facilitator based in Chicago. Their journey to this work began while they were a college student in North Texas, where they joined the reproductive justice movement and provided political education around abortion access and sex education. Since then, Deana has continued to develop their craft of providing values-aligned administrative support and facilitation for nonprofits and social justice groups fighting for a better world.  

When they aren’t sending an email or updating a spreadsheet, you can find Deana going on a nature walk, making zines and collages, or making communal meals with their girlfriend.

Jazmyne Brooks (She/Her)
Program Events & Operations Coordinator

Jazmyne Brooks

Born and raised in the Texas panhandle, Jazmyne (she/her) graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelors in Political Science. While there, she got her start in progressive politics working on election access as a field organizer for MOVE Texas .
She has since held several positions throughout the nonprofit and progressive movement space. With experience in electoral organizing, food justice, fundraising, and database management Jazmyne brings a multidimensional lens to her work in program operations.

Jazmyne is excited to join the team and ensure our trainings ,processes, and systems are efficient and impactful.Outside of work, Jazmyne loves attending old-school R&B concerts, traveling, spending time outdoors, and debriefing the latest Big Brother season with other super fans.

Introducing our new Alumni Community Manager

We’re thrilled to announce our newest staff member, Sagal Handulle! Sagal joined re:power in September 2023 as our first ever Alumni Community Manager. She will be working on the Strategy & Engagement Team to deepen our relationship with re:power alumni and help build a tighter network of incredible BIPOC women, trans & gender expansive people of color leaders.

Sagal Handulle

Raised in central Ohio, Sagal Handulle graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science. She got her start in politics as a Progressive Pipeline fellow with the PA Working Families Party and was shortly promoted to digital organizer. In her role, she developed digital strategies for campaigns and candidates—and found comfort in an organizing space that valued the need for a diverse point of view. Inspired by her own experience, she returned to Progressive Pipeline as the Fellowship Director, managing the flagship fellowship program and placing 400+ fellows with over 80 different employer partners.

Sagal completed re:power’s WOC leadership track this summer and felt a sense of safety, community, and kinship for the first time in her professional life. She joins the re:power team, ready to build on the momentum and deliver programming that taps into the unique experiences, challenges, and concerns faced by our alumni community. When she’s not working, you’ll find her at the gym, baking late at night, or writing short stories.

We’re so excited to announce that the re:power team has added two new incredible members to our team. Get to know Lee Anderson and Ali Brusch and keep an eye on our careers page for new openings!

Lee Anderson
Director, Movement Technology Programs

Lee Anderson

Lee Anderson is a digital and cultural strategist, a storyteller, and an artist. Lee made a name for himself over the last 16 years running electoral and political campaigns for national organizations like the AFL-CIO, CREDO SuperPAC, and the Center for Popular Democracy. Lee has also managed international digital advocacy strategy, and led communications functions in the philanthropic sector. Even with those achievements, Lee thinks of himself as an artist first.

A classically trained vocalist and music producer, Lee has been able to apply his love for the arts to his passion for social justice and activism and has helped plan and execute creative actions, performances, art installations, and touchpoints that use culture to mobilize communities into action. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Lee spent way too much time in Washington, DC, and now lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and their mini Labradoodle, King T’Challa.

Ali Brusch
Managing Director, Finance & Operations

Ali Brusch

Ali is a New York native who has worked in finance and operations at local and global nonprofits since 2008. She has worked with staff to build comprehensive budgets and to strengthen and maintain the operational health of the organization. Her goal is always to create anti-oppressive practices and policies that center staff and that make finances accessible to all. Ali is so excited to be joining re:power in the role of Managing Director, Finance & Operations as we embark on our strategic plan and continue to uplift and support BIPOC leaders.

Ali currently lives in Fairfield, CT with her partner and two kids. When she’s not working, she enjoys a healthy dose of reality tv, along with cooking and being outdoors.

Krystal Garcia Centeno
Administrative Coordinator, Development & Communications

Krystal Garcia Centeno

Krystal brings a wealth of experience from advocacy organizations like Warehouse Workers for Justice and the Sierra Club where she was an organizer and operations professional building power with working people across intersectional social justice fights. Krystal was a 2020 At-Large Delegate for Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign and a community college school board candidate during the 2023 consolidated election cycle, where in both cases she championed progressive policies and advocated for more inclusive democracies.  

Krystal is particularly excited to join the Development and Communications team because she is passionate about redistributing wealth and is eager to reimagine philanthropy through a community centric framework. Outside of work she’s a dog mom of two girls (Olivia and Blue), a graduate student, and is usually watching films with Pedro Pascal in them.

Adriyanna R. Andreus
Program Coordinator, Progressive Governance Academy

Adriyanna R. Andreus

Adriyanna joins the re:power team after working on the Made to Save team at Civic Nation mobilizing efforts to get shots in arms in communities of color and building stronger and more resilient ties between communities of color and their public health ecosystem—all in service of building long-term community power.

Previously, Adriyanna worked on the Voter Registration Quality Control Project and on Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2020 presidential campaign in accounting and compliance. Adriyanna was a 2020 Maryland At-Large Delegate for President Joe Biden while serving as the Coordinator for the Haitian Ladies Network. 

In her free time, Adriyanna loves to cook her favorite Haitian recipes, cuddle with her dog Tokyo and cat Furiosa, travel the world with her partner Tiff, and keep her community civically engaged through her social media platform Decipher TV.

Tina C. Hines
Executive Assistant & Board Liaison

Tina C. Hines

Tina C. Hines is a seasoned Executive Assistant with over 35 years in the field. She began her administrative career as a secretary in the offices of Johnson & Johnson. There Tina held executive assistant positions in the areas of safety and industrial hygiene, sales and logistics and business development. She was the recipient of several awards for her work at Johnson & Johnson. 

Tina continued her career supporting the founder/owner of Black Enterprise Magazine. It was during this time where she enhanced her skills which eventually led her to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. At the foundation, Tina managed the executive office of the President and CEO, as well as worked closely with the board of trustees. More recently, Tina has served as office manager of Extra Hands VAS where she supported the founder with daily operations.

Tina is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with an Associates of Arts in Business. She is also certified as a life and transformational coach. She is passionate about helping women live their best life without limits.
